When I travel to the seaside with my kids, vacations rarely look like the vacation I imagined.
I always make a list in my head in advance and ask myself: is the beach close enough, what will we do if the kids get bored, where will we have lunch, will they have something to do, and will my husband and I manage to have a coffee in peace at least once during the day, because we have three of them, from toddlers to teenagers. That’s exactly why it was important for me to find a place this year where I wouldn’t have to think about what to do next all day, but where I could also relax for those two weeks.

I think that we parents often forget on vacation that we also need a real break. After being on the move all year round and constantly worrying about everyone’s well-being, on vacation we often just change the location, and our obligations remain mostly the same. With three children of different ages, this challenge is even greater, so it was important to me to find a hotel where we would all have enough content and entertainment, and where we parents would have the opportunity to slow down for a while, have a coffee in peace, and simply be on vacation.
That’s why we chose the Family Hotel Adria in Biograd na Moru. After a major investment and complete renovation, it is now one of the largest hotels on the Adriatic, and its concept is designed to offer families much more than just accommodation. While the children have fun and explore everything they have to offer, we can take a break. It was precisely this feeling that someone would take care of their entertainment, while leaving us a little space for freedom, that was one of the main reasons why we chose this particular hotel.
Family Hotel Adria reopened its doors to guests in July and has been operating as a four-star hotel since this season. It is located in a pine forest, just three hundred meters from the beach, and has 209 accommodation units and approximately 800 beds. We were also impressed by the all-inclusive offer, which means that food, drinks, swimming in the pools, children’s entertainment, sports activities and free Wi-Fi are part of every guest’s stay. We only chose the date, and the daily planning of meals, drinks and additional amenities is part of the service provided by the hotel staff.

Pools, wellness and children’s adventures
Special attention at the Family Hotel Adria is dedicated to children, and that is the most important thing for me and my wife, that our little ones are happy and satisfied. The offer includes indoor and outdoor pools, which they actually enjoy the most, spacious and colorful children’s playrooms where they can hang out with other children, sports fields for playing, as well as animation programs. The older son can’t wait to try out a special attraction, an off-road track for children, because he is a big fan of any kind of driving and adrenaline.
When you spend holidays with kids, it is sometimes exhausting to be a “clown animator” all day, “only” the beach and the sea are not enough for them. And this sounds to us like an ideal vacation for adults and children, because when children have an additional interest, it’s good for us adults too. They want fun from 0 to 24 hours and never get tired! Well, the Family Hotel Adria program saved us from looking for amusement parks around the city and similar attractions that we would certainly spend extra money on.
And for those who have outgrown the classic children’s activities, like our “little big” teenager, there are Teen activities. Sports tournaments, evening programs and activities designed for older children allow them to socialize with their peers, meet new friends and have a good time that they will tell their friends back home. SPA zone
While the children will be staying in their three clubs with animators, we parents will recharge our batteries, let our minds wander and take advantage of the spa offer. In the wellness area, we will try the charms of the Finnish sauna, which we have studied all about and which we can’t wait to try, because it is supposedly ideal for relaxing after a day spent in the sun, and then massages and complete relaxation with various treatments await us.
Nearby cities
We noticed that the location of the Family Hotel Adria is also an excellent starting point for exploring the Dalmatian coast and the cities in the area. Zadar is only about 30 minutes away by car, so it is an ideal choice for an evening walk around the Peninsula, sightseeing historical sites or enjoying the sunset by the Sea Organ. In the opposite direction are Šibenik and Vodice, about 40 minutes away, and a little further on is Split, which is worth a visit, about an hour and a half drive away. For those who want to combine a seaside holiday with excursions, the picturesque Nin, Pakoštane and Primošten are also nearby, so we can go on a new adventure from the hotel almost every day. We will definitely stop by the Vrana Lake Nature Park, which is about ten minutes away from the hotel.
Biograd as a growing destination
As one of the larger all-inclusive family hotels in the central Adriatic, the four-star Family Hotel Adria with family-friendly facilities represents a new chapter in the hotel offer of Biograd na Moru and is the main reason why we put this town and hotel at the top of our list of destinations for our family vacation.
And the best part? We don’t always have to wait for a vacation for family relaxation. Biograd has enough content for the whole summer, but it is also close enough to head for an extended weekend and spend a few days by the sea, playing, exploring and enough time to slow down from the hectic pace of everyday life.
